Alex received her undergraduate degree from Salisbury University in exercise science, and continued her education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where she received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy.  Alex is a certified health fitness specialist (HFS) and a certified ergonomic assessment specialist (CEAS).  She also specializes in vestibular rehabilitation (vertigo/BPPV) and with pediatric patients.

Alex chose the field of Physical Therapy while in high school.  She knew that she wanted to work with others and was fascinated by rehabilitation after injury. Alex believes in educating patients about their injuries and the pain that they are experiencing.  She feels that once patients have an understanding of what is occurring, they are empowered and can prevent the problem from reoccurring in the future.

In her spare time, Alex enjoys playing guitar, drums, singing and paddle boarding.  She was an athlete all of her young life and notes that those experiences have help shape her treatments and care.

Melissa is a graduated of Arundel High School Class of 2015 and is currently going to AACC taking online classes.  Melissa's dream job would be a novel writer, but would also love to do something where she could travel. Melissa's bubbly and outgoing personality fits in great with the Breakaway atmosphere!

Some of Melissa's hobbies and interests include writing, baking, photography, learning Russian, knitting, collecting antiques, and yoga.  Melissa's favorite part about working at Breakaway is, "the family atmosphere and how sweet everyone is.  It is definitely a fun place to work!".

Maureen received her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science and Physical Education from McDaniel College in 2001 and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2008.  She has dreamed about a career in healthcare as long as she can remember.

She has been a runner since the age of thirteen. This early passion gave her a sense of identity and confidence, while also allowing her an appreciation for the devastation of injury. She chose to pursue a career in the field of Physical Therapy, so she can help others receive the benefits of mobility and exercise—wherever they may be in their journey. Maureen also enjoys swimming, yoga and high intensity interval training.

Maureen treats a variety of conditions, including, but not limited to, injury to the lower back, knee, hip and shoulder. She spent the early part of her career focusing her continuing educational pursuits in Manual Therapy, as she believes touch separates Physical Therapists from other healthcare providers. Finally, she believes in a comprehensive approach to care rather than simply treating symptoms.

In her spare time, Maureen stays busy with her husband and their two young children. She is extremely grateful for the opportunity with Breakaway for the flexibility of working part-time—so that she can continue to grow as a Physical Therapist while also raising her children. She is excited to meet more of the Breakaway patients and solidify herself as a member of the Breakaway team.

Brandy recently graduated from Marymount University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  Brandy hopes to build on her undergraduate degree by pursing a career in physical therapy.  She loves the physical therapy experience that she is getting while working at Breakaway.

Some of Brandy's hobbies and interests include being with family, traveling, and going to both the Washington Nationals and Washington Capitals games with family and friends!  Since joining the Breakaway team, Brandy loves the "family feel" and how personal all of the staff are with the patients.  She also loves that everyone here at Breakaway is, "making a difference in peoples' lives".
